Growing up Amy always enjoyed writing and competed and won awards in the John J. Thurman Young Author Contest several years in a row. As an adult, using writing to create imaginary worlds for her family and readers to enjoy is a privilege and a job she takes very seriously.
Amy has always used writing as a creative outlet for expression and as a way to work through hard times in her personal life, especially when spoken words were hard to find. All of her published works to date are specifically geared toward children, offering both educational and entertainment value. The fantasy elements of the books help to soften the more serious lessons while providing an engaging story to keep the reader entertained. Offering the story from the animals' perspective gives it a unique flow that leaves the reader curious about what new adventure the characters will face. Amy has many animals in her life, and the ones that make it into the books are the most "outspoken" on the little farm—the ones who offer the most entertainment in the real world.
